God’s Justice

The following is from Andrew Sung Park’s fantastic little book, Triune Atonement: Christ’s Healing for Sinners, Victims, and the Whole of Creation.

The justice of God reverses the standards of regular social orders and values (Luke 3:11, 14; 6:20-26).  Jesus did not elevate private holiness first, but embodied God’s justice and God’s reign on earth… Justice means to seek the equity of ethnicity, class, and gender relations and to resist an excessive concentration of wealth; widespread poverty; the reduction of civil, political, and prisoners.  It is to reexamine the widening net of incarceration, revised affirmative action, reduced environmental regulations, and a globalized transnational economy.  To bring down God’s reign on earth, the Paraclete as a transformative agent gets involved in the peaceful and nonviolent ways of the change of unjust national and global structures and systems.” (79).
